Sunny Southern California doesn’t disappoint, with June temperatures reaching 79° for the high and 62° for the low. It’ll be partly cloudy and warm out here.

Ocean water temperatures are around 57° with surf heights of three feet.
Even though it’s oak pollen season, along with sagebrush and chenopods, levels of pollen in the air are decreasing but still considered low to medium.
The Five News Headlines That Everyone’s Talking About
- Peafowl are nuisances in adjacent cities, but local residents seem to enjoy the majestic birds walking through Belmont Shore and Belmont Heights. Officials conducted a peafowl census, and found that numbers were so low that they did not warrant any regulations. (Beachcomber)
- Community activists caution that the LBPD currently operates four camera-equipped drones without any conduct or limitation policy in place. Similarly, there is no information on allowable data sharing. (Check LBPD)
- Downed power lines led to outages in North LB and beyond. An eyewitness reported “large power cables fell from the electrical towers” on his property. (LB Post)
- The LB Public Library intends to reach out to teens during a free virtual event on June 23. Young adult author Mark Oshiro will spotlight LGBTQ+ Pride Month with their experience as a queer, nonbinary author. (City of LB)
- The Planning Commission is willing to forgo height regulations and parking requirements for those developing affordable housing in LB. However, this proposal only applies to parcels that allow five or more housing units. (LB Press Telegram)
