Suspect in Long Beach Crash Booked on DUI, Hit-and-Run Charges
Accident leaves a mother and child briefly trapped in their car.

A man has been booked on DUI charges after a hit-and-run collision in Long Beach, police said Saturday.
The collision left a mother and her young child briefly trapped in their vehicle after it was struck at the intersection of East Del Amo Boulevard and Orange Avenue, just after midnight, a videographer at the scene said.

The woman had taken her child out of the child restraint seat, and was holding it in the front seat as emergency workers tried to free her from the vehicle, the videographer said.
Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said the suspect stopped his vehicle nearby, where he was arrested.

Pratt said the suspect, who was not named, was booked on DUI and hit-and-run charges.
