SWAT Team Surrounds Empty Long Beach Home
Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that prompted a SWAT team to surround a Long Beach home, but no suspect was found inside.

LONG BEACH, CA – Authorities Friday investigated a fatal shooting that prompted a SWAT team to surround a Long Beach home, but no suspect was found inside.
Officers were dispatched about 2:30 p.m. Thursday to the 1900 block of Myrtle Avenue to investigate a report of a shooting that had just occurred, said Long Beach police Sgt. Bradley Johnson. Responding found a man in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, added Long Beach police Lt. Ty Burford.
Firefighters took the man to a hospital, where he later died, Burford said.

"Officers determined the shooting occurred in 900 block (of) Dayman (Street) and the victim drove to the 1900 block of Myrtle, where he crashed into a parked vehicle," Johnson said.
Further investigation led police back to a home in the 900 block of Dayman Street, he said.

"Officers surrounded the location and made attempts to call anyone who was inside to exit but there has been no response," Johnson said.
The shooter was determined not to be inside Thursday night but the scene remained active, Burford said.
