Big Rig Crash Shuts Down Lanes On 405 Freeway
The big rig was hauling large pipes that spilled onto the northbound lanes and damaged some vehicles.

LONG BEACH, CA — A crash involving a big rig Tuesday blocked several northbound and southbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway near the Long Beach (710) Freeway in the Long Beach area.
The truck, hauling a load of large metal pipes that were 30- to 50-feet-long, crashed about 9:30 a.m. into the center divider of the southbound 405 Freeway, and pipes spilled onto the northbound lanes and damaged some vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Traffic was snarled in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene. Some diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway, and a hazardous-materials team was sent to handle the cleanup.

The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
Update: there is now pretty heavy traffic at that point. Looks like the 405 is FUBAR. This is just *part* of the crash! @jeremiahdobruck pic.twitter.com/sPdlh0LIv6
