'Wedding Maya-Amour' Contest: Free Wedding At Oceanfront Resort

LONG BEACH, CA — Hotel Maya in Long Beach is holding a "Wedding Maya-Amour" contest in 2020, and one lucky couple will receive a free wedding ceremony and reception at the oceanfront resort.

To qualify for the contest, couples must enter at Hotel Maya’s Facebook or Instagram pages by posting an engagement photo, using the hashtag #WeddingMaya-Amor and describing in 20 words why they deserve to be selected for Hotel Maya’s “Wedding Maya-Amor” ceremony and reception, the Hotel Maya press release said.

The submission dates will be January 20, February 20, March 20 and April 20. Hotel Maya will choose four semi-finalists from each submission period, and the semi-finalists will each receive a complimentary Fuego Sunday Brunch for two, as well as monetary credit towards a booked wedding at Hotel Maya with a minimum value, according to Hotel Maya. The winning couple will be selected from the four semifinalists on May 20.

Hotel Maya's Wedding Maya-Amour will take place at 2:44 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, to honor the Mayans and coincide with Summer solstice, the press release said. It will include a one-hour ceremony at Playa at the Maya and a one-hour cocktail reception for up to 100 guests with hors d’oeuvres, margaritas and sangria, as well as serenading by a mariachi band.

Hotel Maya hosts weddings throughout the year, and features three distinct outdoor areas including: the Jardin with a gazebo and tropical waterfall, the Esplanade outdoor area topped by a 14-foot by 42-foot umbrella, and Playa at the Maya, the 6,500-square-foot seaside beach, Hotel Maya said.
