Woman, 86, Fatally Struck By Car In Long Beach
The woman was in a crosswalk Friday evening when she was struck. The driver remained at the scene, police said.
LONG BEACH, CA — An 86-year-old woman died from injuries she suffered when she was struck by a vehicle in Long Beach, authorities said this morning.
The victim was crossing from the southeast curb of Magnolia Avenue to the 32nd Street in the crosswalk at 6:15 p.m. Friday, when she was struck by a gray 2003 Honda Pilot traveling southbound on Magnolia Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers called to the scene found the Long Beach resident unconscious and not breathing and began life saving measures until Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and took the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Honda, a 46-year-old man from Long Beach, remained at the scene, tried to help the woman and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and distracted driving was not a factor in the crash, police said.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
