1 Dead, 1 Wounded And 1 Machete-Wielding Man Arrested In Encino

Officers responding to a report of an armed man in a residential Encino neighborhood, arrived to find a body in a garage.

ENCINO, CA — One person is dead, another is wounded and a man armed with a machete and a knife was taken into custody in a residential Encino neighborhood Thursday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Los Angeles homicide detectives working to piece together what happened described the arrested man as a "possible suspect" in the homicide.

Police were first called to White Oak Avenue and Ventura Boulevard just before noon to respond to a report of a man with lacerations on his left arm, according to Officer Jader Chavez of the Los Angeles Police Department's media relations office. The wounded man, who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Later in the day, officers were called back to the area to the 17700 block of Alonzo Place near White Oak Avenue on a report of a man armed with a hatchet.

When they arrived, they found a body in the garage of the residence and a man armed with the machete and knife, according to the LAPD and broadcast reports from the scene. The man was taken into custody.
