1 Killed, 1 Injured In Deliberate Hit And Run, Police Allege
According to investigators, an argument between three men living at a homeless encampment turned deadly Sunday.
WEST LOS ANGELES, CA — A driver plowed into two people during an altercation in West Los Angeles, killing one person and injuring another, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
The driver fled the scene but was quickly apprehended, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Eva Jimenez. The attack happened in the 11600 block of San Vicente Boulevard just after midnight Sunday.
One victim, a 51-year-old man was dragged 200 feet and died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police and sheriff's department. The second victim, a 36-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Jimenez said. Authorities have not publicly identified either man.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene first on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run call. They arrived to find the two victims and canvassed the area. Officers quickly found the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash, triggering a short pursuit, according to Jimenez.
Police arrested 34-year-old Pedro Flores and booked him booked for murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Jimenez said. He is being held on $2 million bail.

"Investigators learned the suspect and deceased victim were involved in a verbal argument prior to the incident," Jimenez said. "The suspect then got into his vehicle and deliberately used his vehicle to assault both victims, leaving one of them dead."
Flores and the two victims are all transients who live within the federal enclave adjacent to the Veterans Administration in West Los Angeles, which is currently dotted with tents occupied by the homeless, according to investigators.
