Brush Fire Scorches A Half-Acre Along Laurel Canyon Boulevard
With the help of three water-dropping helicopters, crews were able to protect homes in the Sylmar area where the fire burned Monday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters quickly contained a small brush fire burning along North Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Sylmar Monday morning.
The brush fire was first reported at 9:20 a.m. in the 11800 block of North Laurel Canyon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Ground and air crews were called into douse the fire, which was moving slowly uphill. The blaze briefly threatened homes, but crews were able to protect the nearby neighborhood with helicopter water drops, and no homes had to be evacuated, said los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. About a half-acre of medium brush was scorched in the blaze.

"LAFD ground crews will remain at scene this morning to handle smoldering vegetation," added Humphrey. "The fire's cause remains under investigation."
