Caltrans To Shut Down Major LA Freeway For 55 Hours This Weekend
Drivers are advised to avoid the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway Friday through Monday morning.
LOS ANGELES, CA — It's not carmageddon, but it's also not fun: several lanes of a major Los Angels freeway will be shut down for 55 hours this weekend.
The 55-hour staggered lane closure of the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway will make for slow-going from East Los Angeles to the San Gabriel Valley beginning Friday night. At points, anywhere from one lane to all lanes will be closed for several hours. The closure, to accommodate Caltrans pavement work on the 60, will take place from the Long Beach (710) Freeway to Woods Avenue. It's slated to last from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.
"Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes," Caltrans said.

The 107 pavement rehabilitation project began in 2019 and is expected to last through early 2025. The project aims to "extend the life of the existing lanes by a minimum of 40 years and improve ride quality," Caltrans said.
Surrounding communities will notice an increase in construction noise and dust, Caltrans warned.
