The Capital Grille To Join LA's Steakhouse Scene

Acclaimed for its steaks, seafood, wine & scratch-made desserts, the new restaurant will open mid-July near Staples Center in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Capital Grille, an upscale steakhouse known for its seafood, dry-aged steaks and fine wines, will open it first Los Angeles location July 16 at 9th and Figueroa streets near the Staples Center.

This will be The Capital Grille's second locale in California, with the other in Costa Mesa's South Coast Plaza.

The eatery's claim to fame is its steak offerings — dry-aged on the premises for 18 to 24 days — followed by such fan favorites as the signature "Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers," "Lobster Mac ‘N’ Cheese" and "Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon."

Desserts, including brûlée-style cheesecake and coconut cream pie, are made from scratch each morning.

And on the wine-front, The Capital Grille pours from a Wine Spectator-recognized list of more than 300 selections, housed in a floor-to-ceiling kiosk holding more than 2,000 bottles. Diners can select from 30 wines, including library vintages and highly sought after limited bottlings.

Vino aficionados can even lease on-site, private wine lockers, complete with brass nameplates, to hold specially procured wines and with first access to special events and tastings.

The new, 10,000-square-foot restaurant, at 700 West 9th St., also will include its takeout option, The Capital Butcher, for at-home, grilling packages.

After opening, The Capital Grille's dinner service will run daily Sundays from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Lunch will be Mondays through Fridays 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations will be recommended, but not required.

With numerous locations nationwide and in Mexico City, The Capital Grille is part of Darden Restaurants Inc., an Orlando, FL-based company that also operates such brands as Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, Seasons 52 and Eddie V's.
