Chase Suspect Crashes Through Fence Onto LAX Runway

LOS ANGELES, CA — A police chase shut down runways at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday after the suspect plowed through a fence and onto a runway. The man, who was driving a sedan with the letters "SOS" painted on the hood, was taken into custody at the airport.

The driver led police on a short pursuit before crashing through a fence at the FedEx cargo facility near the 5900 block of West Imperial Highway at about 6 p.m. Thursday, according to reports from the scene.

The chase shit down the southern runways, but they were quickly reopened.

"Airport police and operations have inspected the south airfield following police activity that briefly closed the south runways," LAX officials tweeted. "One south runway has reopened and the other will open shortly. The north runways continued operating normally."

The suspects' name was not immediately released.
