Watch: Chase Suspect Flips Truck At San Vicente Boulevard
A California Highway Patrol chase across Los Angeles ended after a series of PIT maneuvers caused the driver to flip his pickup.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A police chase ended in a dramatic crash Thursday morning after the California Highway Patrol used the PIT maneuver on the chase suspect, causing his pickup truck to overturn and land on its roof on San Vicente Boulevard.
The chase, which began on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, ended with the driver being pulled from the overturned Toyota Tacoma at San Vicente and Redondo boulevards. During the chase, the driver blew through red lights and forced oncoming traffic to dodge him, according to KTLA, which followed chase from above.
The pursuit ended at about 9:45 a.m. with the suspect in custody, according to the CHP. It began at about 9:15 a.m. on the westbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway near the Long Beach (710) Freeway, when the suspect allegedly committed a traffic violation and failed to yield to officers, according to the CHP.

The driver kept going, eventually exiting onto surface streets. Officers tried a PIT maneuver at least three times unsuccessfully before the final try.

At one point during the chase, the motorist waved at a news helicopter crew monitoring the chase overhead. Just two days earlier, another chase suspect aped for news crews shouting, "Good morning, LA" as police took him into custody.
