Comedians Bill Maher, Bob Saget Mock Al Franken Grope Photo
Maher posted a photo on his Twitter account poking fun at the photo that led to the downfall of Minnesota Sen. Al Franken.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Comedian Bill Maher on Thursday mocked the now-infamous photo that shows former Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota groping a radio host in 2006. Maher tweeted a photo of himself appearing to grope a sleeping Bob Saget on a plane while looking back and smiling — the same pose Franken struck in the 2006 photo.
“These New Years Hawaii trips are getting weird - Saget, forgive me!” Maher captioned the photo.
Maher’s photo garnered mixed reactions on Twitter. While some of his fans saw humor in the intended joke, others said Maher was making light of sexual misconduct, which doomed Franken, a rising star in the Senate.

“Jokes about sexual misconduct are: easy, not funny, offensive,” Twitter user John V. Lombardo wrote in response to Maher.
“That’s not even funny. Get a new job,” Jonna Stopnik added. “Why is it chill to make a joke out of this?” another Twitter user, Eva Oakes, asked.

The photo Maher and Saget were mocking showed Franken appearing to grope radio host Leeann Tweeden while the two of them were on a USO tour in the Middle East. At least six other women later came forward to accuse Franken of sexual misconduct, including unwanted touching and forcible kissing.
Franken announced he would resign his Senate seat on Dec. 8 amidst the scandal. In his parting statement from the Senate floor, Franken took a shot at President Donald Trump, saying: "There is some irony that I am leaving while a man who bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office, and a man who preyed on young girls runs for Senate with the full support of his party."
