Driver Plows Into Fire Station

SANTA CLARITA, CA — Losing control of a vehicle and crashing into a building could hardly be considered a lucky accident. Unless, of course, it's a fire station.

A driver slammed into the front of a Los Angeles County Fire Station in Canyon Country Thursday, plowing through an exterior wall. Firefighters were instantly at the scene to treat the driver's injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The crash, which remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol, occurred at about 8:15 a.m. at Los Angeles County Fire Station 132 at 29310 Sand Canyon Road.

The driver was evaluated and treated at the scene but declined to be transported to a hospital.

The city of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety was notified of the collision and will assess the structural integrity of the station, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department statement.

The fire station remained operational following the crash.
