Firefighters Stop Forward Progress Of Topanga Blaze

Crews found downed powerlines at the scene of the fire, which impacted two structures and spread to nearby brush.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a small brush fire in the Topanga area Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze broke out at about 12:44 p.m. Tuesday near Valley Drive and Old Topanga Canyon Road. Los Angeles County Firefighters arrived to find two structures ablaze, downed power lines and nearby brush on fire, according to a county fire spokesman.

It wasn't immediately clear how much acreage had burned. The blaze is the second brush fire in the Topanga area in 24 hours. Heavy winds have been buffeting the region, creating severe fire conditions.
