Flaming Jet Engine Prompts Emergency Landing At LAX
Jet engine trouble forced the emergency landing of a Philippine Airlines Boeing 777 Thursday in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Passengers aboard a Philippine Airlines Boeing 777 flight got a genuine scare Thursday when their flight had to return to Los Angeles International Airport due to engine trouble.
As it flew above the Los Angeles coastine, flames belched from one of the Boeing 777's engines. No one was injured aboard the plane, which was forced to land at about 11:50 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. It had been headed to the Philippines.
The trouble was with the right engine, according to the FAA.

Some passengers on Flight 113 reported hearing what sounded like a car engine backfiring, according to ABC7, which obtained passenger video of flames shooting from the engine.
