Glendale Brush Fire Scorches 9 Acres: Evacuations Lifted
Firefighters were battling a brush fire in Glendale Tuesday afternoon near Brand Park at the base of the Verdugo Mountains.

GLENDALE, CA — A wind-driven brush fire, dubbed the Grandview Fire, scorched nine acres in Glendale Tuesday afternoon, but crews stopped the forward progress of the blaze shortly after 4 p.m.
Authorities haD evacuated 14 homes along Mountain Street and Idlewood Road as a precaution, according to the Glendale Fire Department. By 4:05 p.m., all evacuations were lifted, the Glendale Fire Department reported.
Glendale Water & Power crews were at the scene working to restore power after turning off power in the 900 block of West Mountain Street near Matilija Road.

The fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at about 2:16 p.m. near Brand Park, at the bottom of the Verdugo Mountains, according to Glendale city spokeswoman Eliza Papazian.
Shortly before 3 p.m., the fire had spread to eight acres, Papazian said.
