High Tech License Plate Reader Alerts Deputies To Stolen Car
LA Sheriff's Deputies were alerted that a stolen car was traveling through La Canada Flintridge area in the middle of the night.
LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, CA — A high-tech device that can read license plate numbers led deputies to two suspected car thieves early Wednesday morning in La Canada Flintridge.
A Flock Safety camera system was at work in the middle of the night when a stolen white Nissan Sentra drove through the La Canada Flintridge area, alerting deputies from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station, sheriff's officials said. The camera system identified the stolen car at 1:20 a.m., and a short time later, deputies spotted the vehicle near Gould Avenue and Foothill Boulevard and stopped the car in a shopping center, officials said.
The two people inside the vehicle were detained while deputies searched the car and found narcotics and evidence of identity theft, according to the sheriff's department.
