High Winds Return To L.A. Area This Weekend
Gusty Santa Ana Winds were expected to hit 70 mph overnight in the most wind-prone areas of the Southland.
LOS ANGELES, CA — High winds were headed back to the Southland Saturday, with gusts up to 70 mph expected overnight in the windiest areas.
Wind advisories issued by the National Weather Service were in effect through 10 p.m. Saturday in the mountains and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, until noon Sunday in the San Gabriel Valley, and until 3 p.m. Sunday in coastal Orange and Los Angeles counties and downtown Los Angeles.
The moderate to strong Santa Ana winds could blow down large objects such as trees and power lines, forecasters said. Power outages are possible, and travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. This includes Interstate 5 and Highways 14 and 126.

Gusts could get up to 45 mph from Malibu to the Hollywood Hills, 60 mph in the San Fernando Valley, 65 mph in Santa Clarita and 70 mph in the mountains.
