LAPD Officer Trapped In 2-Car Crash

Los Angeles firefighter rescued an LAPD officer trapped in a patrol vehicle involved in a crash.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters worked to rescue a Los Angeles police officer who was trapped in a department vehicle following a two-vehicle crash in South Los Angeles Wednesday night.

The crash happened in the 1000 block of East Vernon Avenue, near Central Avenue Wednesday at about 10:20 p.m. The trapped officer's partner made it out, but firefighters arrived to find the second officer trapped in the vehicle with multiple injuries, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A patient in the second vehicle was evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries, Stewart said.
