LAPD SWAT Officer Shot; Barricaded Gunman Is Killed
An LAPD officer was shot twice by a barricaded man near USC Tuesday. The officer's vest stopped one bullet, and he was struck by the other.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles police killed a barricaded gunman who shot a SWAT Team officer Tuesday in Exposition Park near USC.
Officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 100 block of West 21st Street, near South Main Street shortly afternoon Tuesday, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. They found the suspect holed up in a home, and an hours-long standoff ensued.
More than four hours into the standoff, the suspect fired on a SWAT Team officer, striking him in the chest and face, said LAPD Chief Michel Moore.

The officer's bullet-proof vest protected him and he was able to walk on his own before paramedics rushed him to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, CBS2 reported.
