Los Angeles School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Los Angeles is August 15. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Los Angeles Unified School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/15: First Day of Instruction

September

• 9/1: No School (Admissions Day)
• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/21: No School

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/18 - 1/5: No School (Winter Recess)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Recess)
• 1/8: Second Semester Begins
• 1/15: No School (Dr. Martin L. King, Jr.’s Birthday)

February

• 2/19: No School (Presidents’ Day)

March

• 3/26 - 3/30: No School (Spring Recess)

April

• 4/2: No School (Cesar E. Chavez Birthday Observed)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/7: Last Day of Instruction
• 6/8: Pupil Free Day
