Man, 31, Stabbed To Death By Trespasser In Beverly Grove ID'd
Authorities identified the slain 31-year-old man and his killer, who then turned the knife upon himself following a manhunt.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities identified a 31-year-old man stabbed to death in the backyard of his Beverly Grove home by an alleged trespasser who then turned the knife on himself, according to police.
Gabriel Donnay died Monday confronting the trespasser, who residents had seen hopping fences in the neighborhood, according to witnesses and investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department. Police suspect Enoch Conners, 33, stabbed Donnay before holing up in a nearby back house where he died of an apparent self-inflicted stab wound.
Officers had responded to a home in the 6600 block of Maryland Drive about 4:35 p.m. Monday on reports of a residential burglary, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"A perimeter was established, and while officers were conducting a search, they located an additional male inside a nearby property," the LAPD said.
According to police, Conners had jumped a wall and tried to hide in a guest house in the 5500 block of West Fifth Street, about a block from the original crime scene. Officers attempted to persuade him to surrender. Police threw pepper-spray grenades through the windows of the guest house after negotiations failed. They entered the guest house and found the man dead, according to ABC7.
"That male was also pronounced dead at the scene, from an apparent self-inflicted stab wound. The investigation has confirmed him to be the suspect in the original stabbing," the LAPD announced.
"It is believed that this is an isolated incident and there is not an active search for a suspect," the LAPD said.
Neighbors of the victim told Fox11 a belligerent homeless man was jumping fences of homes in the area and was confronted by the victim.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the LAPD's West Bureau Homicide office at 213-382-9470.
The case is the latest in a string of unsettling, random attacks in Los Angeles County over the last two weeks. Earlier this month, police arrested a man accused of randomly attacking residents in Encino, bludgeoning a 100-year-old man to death. Last week, a 23-year-old man was arrested after allegedly chasing people with a knife in a San Dimas park. He has been charged with the stabbing murder of a 66-year-old woman who was walking her dog in the park. None of the cases are related. In each case, the victims appeared to be chosen at random.
