Urban Search and Rescue teams were called in to help free a man heard shouting for help from inside a storm drain on Temple Street Tuesday.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man trapped in a tunnel in Downtown Los Angeles was able to work his way free Tuesday morning as firefighters geared up to rescue him.

It was shortly before 8 a.m. when passersby heard a man screaming for help in the area of 333 East Temple Street. A man had apparently entered a storm drain and got stuck, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Urban search and rescue teams responded to help free the man and render aid, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange. However, the man was able to free himself on his own and was evaluated by paramedics.
