LAPD Shoots Man At Police Station

Los Angeles Police shot a man outside the department's Olympic Community Police Station Tuesday in the latest of a spate of LAPD shootings.

LOS ANGELES CA — Los Angeles Police shot an allegedly armed man outside the department's station in the Koreatown area Tuesday afternoon.

The man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, and police officials released few details about the encounter that triggered the shooting. It was the sixth LAPD officer shootings in a week.

According to the LAPD, an armed man approached the entrance to the Olympic Community Police Station at the corner of 11th Street and Vermont Avenue at about 2:20 p.m.

An officer spoke who spoke to the man saw what appeared to be a handgun and called for backup, police said. Authorities did not say what transpired between the man and the officer leading up to the shooting.

Without explaining what prompted it, police stated that officers shot the man. No officers were injured.

Broadcast aerial footage from the scene showed the station marked off by police tape and a pile of clothes, a gun, and a baton lying on the ground in front of the station's entrance.

The shooting comes on the same day Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore announced plans to investigate a spate of officer-involved shootings last week. LAPD officers were involved in five shootings in four days last week. Two of the shootings proved to be fatal. LAPD Chief Michel Moore said on Tuesday that the shooting investigations were underway using reviews of body-worn cameras, video from nearby residences, witness accounts and physical evidence
