Overturned Big Rig Jams Up 60 Freeway In Montebello
All but one lane of the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello was shut down overnight and into the morning rush hour.
MONTEBELLO, CA — An overturned semi-truck shut down all but one lane of the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello for hours Monday night and Tuesday morning, creating traffic headaches for the region.
Only the No. 1 lane of the westbound was open Tuesday morning heading into the rush hour. According to SigAlert.com, traffic was at 5 mph crawl heading into the 7 a.m. hour. Authorities worked to clear the wreckage after a semi-truck collided with a mini van and overturned.
The accident occurred about 9:25 p.m. Monday near the Garfield Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol. The big rig driver had been traped in the wreckage, and firefighters worked for an hour to free him, according to multiple broadcast reports.

The Nos. 2, 3 and 4 westbound lanes of the freeway were blocked until further notice, and traffic was being taken off the freeway at Paramount Boulevard.
