Pilot Hurt In FedEx Plane Emergency Landing At LAX
The landing gear on one side of a FedEx Boeing 767-300 malfunctioned, and the crew had to land at LAX without it.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A FedEx plane made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday morning because of a mechanical issue with a landing gear, and one of the two pilots was injured while getting off the aircraft.
L.A. City firefighters responded to the airport about 3:50 a.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
One of the pilots was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening leg injury he sustained while exiting the aircraft, Stewart said.

The plane, a Boeing 767-300, was able to land safely and emergency crews were evaluating the aircraft, according to Los Angeles World Airports.
According to Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration, FedEx Flight 1026 "experienced a landing gear malfunction while landing."

"The crew was unable to extend the left main landing gear before landing on Runway 25R," Gregor said in a statement. "The plane had departed from Newark Liberty International Airport."
ABC7 showed video of sparks coming from the plane's landing gear as it rolled along a runway.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation, Stewart said.
