Police Chase Armed Driver Near La Cienega Boulevard​

Residents are advised to avoid the Westchester/Inglewood areas where police are chasing a suspect believed to be armed.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police are pursuing a suspect believed to be armed with a gun in the Westchester and Inglewood areas, and commuters were advised to avoid the area Thursday afternoon.

The vehicle, a gold Chevy Malibu, was headed up Arbor Vitae Street near La Cienega Boulevard shortly after 2 p.m., and it made its way to the Inglewood area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The pursuit was initiated by the officers with the Los Angeles Police Department's southwest station gang unit, said LAPD Officer William Cooper.

As of 2:25 p.m., the suspect and pursuing officers had stopped in the inglewood area.

"It's at a standstill," Cooper said.

Thesuspect remains inside the vehicle on West 99th Street, near South Inglewood Avenue in the Inglewood area.
