Police Set Up Perimeter Along Venice Blvd For Barricaded Suspect

Commuters are advised to avoid Venice Boulevard in the Mid City area where police have surrounded a barricaded suspect.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police surrounded a barricaded suspect in the Mid City area Tuesday morning, and residents and commuters were being advised to avoid the area.

The standoff began at about 6 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Rimpau Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Cervantes. Police set up a perimeter blocking portions of South Venice and South Rimpau boulevards. As of 9:30 a.m., the standoff remained active.

Authorities did not immediately identify the suspect nor the alleged crime involved.
