Possible Armed Car-Jacking Suspect Barricaded In Compton
Officials said to "stay indoors" as SWAT officers set up a perimeter near Compton. Sheriff said it is not the suspect who ambushed deputies.
LYNWOOD, CA — A SWAT team and a large fleet of law enforcement vehicles were present near Compton Tuesday as the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department searched for a carjacking subject. According to multiple reports, the suspect may have been armed, prompting officials to ask residents to stay inside.
A perimeter was set up at Carlin and Santa Fe avenues by SWAT officers, just a few blocks from where two LASD deputies were shot and wounded during an ambush Saturday night.
Rumors circulated on social media Tuesday that the two incidents may have been related; however, Sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed that the carjacking suspect was not the ambush suspect and that there was no connection between the two incidents, according to Fox11 Los Angeles.

Deputies were still on the scene along the 3100 block of Carlin ave Tuesday afternoon as the suspect was possibly barricaded inside a residence.
"The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is asking all Lynwood residents in the vicinity of El Segundo and State Streets to please stay indoors for your safety and that of your neighbors," The City of Lynwood tweeted Tuesday. "We will update as more information becomes available."

On Sunday, Villanueva refuted another rumor that a Los Angeles man was suspect who ambushed two deputies Saturday.
Currently, there is a social media post that is being circulated which identifies a male out of the Los Angeles area as the suspect responsible for the ambush of our 2 deputies yesterday. This is ERRONEOUS information and there are no named or wanted suspects at this time.
