LOS ANGELES, CA — Tuesday saw heat records fall across the Southland, and more record-breaking heat is in store for Los Angeles, the National Weather Service warned. Van Nuys reached 109 degrees Tuesday! This is the kind of heatwave where you'll want to check on elderly loved ones and neighbors to make sure they have access to air conditioning or cooling centers.

Did you do something special to mark California's official reopening Tuesday after 453 days of coronavirus restrictions? Across the county, people returned to theme parks, Dodgers games and concerts. The famed Langer's Delicatessen-Restaurant welcomed guests back, too. It was the kind of rampant normalcy that does the heart good!

All this and more in LA's top stories.
