Shooting Breaks Out At Gardena Target Store

An argument between two shoppers at a Target store on Redondo Beach Boulevard erupted in gunfire Wednesday night.

GARDENA, CA — An argument erupted in gunfire at a Target store in Gardena Wednesday night, leaving one man hospitalized and the gunman on the loose.

The shooting occurred inside the store at 2169 W. Redondo Beach Blvd., near Van Ness Avenue at about 10 p.m. According to the Gardena Police Department, two men were seen fighting inside the store when one pulled out a gun and shot the other man twice, according to Lt. Christopher Cuff of the Gardena Police Department.

Store security had responded to the fight, but the gunmen fled after opening fire, according to police. A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.

The victim, who was not identified by police, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition and underwent surgery. His condition Thursday morning was unknown.

Authorities have not said what triggered the argument.
