Shooting Shuts Down Eastbound 10 Freeway For Hours

Authorities are investigating an early morning freeway shooting in Downtown Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A motorist was shot at on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway near Downtown Los Angeles Wednesday morning, forcing the shutdown of the eastbound side of the freeway.

Authorities have not arrested the shooter nor publicly identified a suspect. The California Highway Patrol did not say if investigators believe it was a car-to-car shooting.

According to the CHP and the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident was reported at about 4 a.m. near Crenshaw Boulevard. The victim exited the freeway at 17th Street and Gramercy Placeand called the police for help. The driver had two passengers in the vehicle, but no one was injured in the shooting.

Authorities shut down the eastbound side of the freeway for about three hours to investigate the shooting. The freeway was reopened at the start of the morning rush hour shortly after 7 a.m.
