LOS ANGELES, CA — Texas-based luxury ride share company Alto is expanding its services beyond the Lone Star State and is now offering rides to commuters in Los Angeles.

In a news release, the company said it is now offering both pre-scheduled and on-demand rides in Los Angeles, including to LAX.

“At such a critical time, we’re thrilled to bring Alto’s elevated rideshare and delivery experience to the Los Angeles market,” Will Coleman, Alto's co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “Knowing how many people have benefited from our consistent, high-quality and safe offerings in our initial market in Texas, we know we have a lot to offer to the LA community.”

Alto said it's doing its part to crack down on the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Between each ride, the company's vehicles, including high touch point areas like headrests and exterior door handles, are cleaned with an EPA-registered disinfectant. Cars are also serviced and cleaned daily.

Inside, a piece of plexiglass separates the driver and passenger compartments, and a HEPA cabin air filter helps eliminate air particles.

Alto's drivers are full-time employees who, according to the company's website, are offered health benefits, paid time off and weekly bonuses.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority last month also announced its Metro Micro project, a ride share service that offers rides in vans and small vehicles in select zones.

Metro Micro currently offers on-demand rides in two zones: Watts/Willowbrook and LAX/Inglewood areas.
