Watch: Massive Sinkhole Opens Up In Los Angeles
A broken water main caused flooding along several streets in the area of f Budlong Avenue was closed between 68th Street.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A massive sinkhole opened up on in the Vermont-Slauson area of south Los Angeles Wednesday morning after a burst water main flooded several streets in the neighborhood.
The broken water main forced the closure of Budlong Avenue was closed between 68th and 70th streets while crews worked to repair the damage, which is expected take until 4 p.m., the LADWP reported.
Several neighboring blocks were flooded by the break, opening up a large sinkhole within just a few hours, CBS2 reported.

No one was hurt when the sinkhole opened up on 68th Street although one vehicle had to be pushed clear.
Forty-eight customers were affected when an 8-inch cast-iron main burst some time before 3 a.m. near 69th Street and Budlong Avenue. Utility crews were sent to handle the problem, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
