Air Force Medal Ceremony for Juan Aranda Monday at Moffett Field
A Mountain View community volunteer, dance instructor and former school board trustee, Aranda will be honored for acts of bravery and heroism.

Fifty-seven years ago during Hurricane Santa Clara in Puerto Rico, then Air Force Airman Juan Aranda committed an act of bravery for which he'll be recognized Monday.
The Mountain View resident helped rescue a father and his three sons trapped in a palm tree inside a flooded brook.
For this act of heroism, Aranda will receive the Air Force Commendation Medal this July 15th at Moffett Federal Airfield on July 15th at 3:30 p.m. from Representative Anna Eshoo, the Department of the Air Force, and hosts the California Air National Guard Unit, the 129th Search and Rescue.
Aranda moved to Mountain View in 1985 and soon became involved in the community. Eventually he was elected as a trustee of the Mountain View School District.
Members of the public are invited to attend.
