Caltrain service briefly halted after train hits car in Sunnyvale
Caltrain officials say inspectors are working to assess possible damage to a locomotive after a train struck a car in Sunnyvale.

An early evening crash between a Caltrain locomotive and a car during rush hour on Monday briefly forced the suspension of service in both directions in Sunnyvale.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. when Southbound Train 262 struck an unoccupied vehicle at Mary Avenue.

No injuries were reported. Caltrain was investigating possible damage to its locomotive.
Traffic was allowed to resume around 7:30 p.m. at a reduced rate of 10 miles per hour. Trains were given clearance to travel at maximum speeds in the area around 8:11 p.m.

Residual delays were expected for trains traveling through Sunnyvale throughout the rest of the evening.
