Community Shuttle Extended Through 2019 In Mountain View
Google funding will keep the free service available to residents seven days a week.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Originally set to expire in 2018, the Mountain View Community Shuttle program, now in its fourth year, was extended through 2019 thanks to funding from Google, city officials said.
The free service, that runs seven days a week, has transported more than 550,000 local riders, to date, helping people get around town and out of their cars, according to the City of Mountain View.
Sill considered a "pilot program," the shuttle concept was designed to connect residents to shopping destinations, downtown Mountain View, entertainment attractions, city facilities, medical complexes and recreation areas. The six fully electric shuttles are equipped with seating for 16 passengers, a wheelchair lift, space for two wheelchairs, WiFi connectivity and bicycle racks on the outside of vehicles.

Each year, the service makes such improvements, based on community feedback, as a real-time tracking component for riders to see where shuttles are at any given time, the Tripshot Rider App allowing riders to receive notifications on mobile devices and a simplified schedule connecting each of the 50 stops every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on weekdays and every 60 minutes on weekends and holidays.
Discussions about the shuttle's future, including funding and operations, will occur through 2019, city officials said.
