Construction Starting At Sunnyvale Caltrains Station

From Caltrain: Work is scheduled to begin next week on Monday, March 12, on the Sunnyvale Station Rehabilitation Project. The project is designed to make the station safer for all passengers. The project will relocate the north pedestrian crossing by 83 feet, which will allow a six-car train to load and unload at the station platform without blocking the existing pedestrian crossings. In addition, the project will update the concrete surfaces at the station that have become uneven, posing a potential tripping hazard.

Construction will take place during the day, and is scheduled to be finished by fall of this year. Neighbors may experience construction noise and light during these times and can sign up for a weekly construction notice here.

Starting in April, the southern bike car on all southbound trains will not be accessible for boarding or deboarding at Sunnyvale Station for approximately eight weeks. Bicyclists bringing their bikes onboard will be asked to board onto the northern bike car.

The project, funded by a combination of local and Caltrain funds, is estimated to cost $750,000.
