Election Officers Needed in North County for June 5th Election

Earn up to $200. Bilingual workers are also in high demand.

With only 32 days remaining until Election Day, June 5th, the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters' Office is asking for your help. The County still needs volunteers to help support the democratic process and is specifically seeking Election Officer sign-ups for the northern area of the county. That includes the cities of Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View. Bilingual workers are also in high demand.

Spend the day as an Election Officer while earning up to $200. It is easy! Sign up online. The Registrar of Voter’s Office staff will contact you to verify your information and application. Then take an online training and you are ready to go! Experience is not necessary; all training is provided. To volunteer, apply online or call (408) 299-POLL [7655].

Election Officers perform vital functions at the polls, including checking in voters and distributing the correct ballots. Election Officers receive a stipend of up to $200 for volunteering at the polls. Election Officers need to be either citizens 18 years or older who are registered to vote, or legal permanent residents, or high school students 16 years or older with permission from a parent and school principal, along with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Inspectors must be at least 18 years old and citizens who are registered to vote. Inspectors oversee the staff of a precinct, assign duties, conduct the pick-up and inventory of election supplies, set up the polling place, and ensure all closing procedures are followed.

There’s a need for bilingual Election Officers to best serve the diverse population of Silicon Valley. Bilingual workers must be conversant in both English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin, Taiwanese), Tagalog, Korean, Russian, Farsi, Punjabi, Japanese, Hindi, Telugu, Portuguese, Khmer, Syriac, Tamil, Gujarati and Nepali.

In total, approximately 200 Inspectors are needed, along with 1,500 other officers, including bilingual workers. Eligible residents who would like to participate in the democratic process are encouraged to contact the Registrar of Voters’ Office immediately.
