Fiery Mountain View Crash Victim Identified

Coroner's officials on Monday publicly identified the man who was struck by two cars after crashing on the 101.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — A man who died Friday in a fiery crash on the 101 in Mountain View has been publicly identified as a San Mateo resident. Wei Huang died following the wreck at Stanford Hospital, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office. He was 38.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. Friday on the southbound side of Highway 101 at the SR-85 southbound connector, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel.

Huang was driving a blue Tesla on the highway "at freeway speeds" when he hit the attenuator barrier dividing the SR-85 southbound connector and US-101 southbound lanes, the CHP said. After crashing into the barrier, he was then hit by two other cars.
