Highway 101 Reopened In Mountain View After Crisis Negotiation
Authorities responded to an ongoing "medical emergency" on a freeway overpass that shut down parts of the highway for most of Tuesday.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Authorities responded to a "medical emergency" on a freeway overpass over Highway 101 at Old Middlefield Way in Mountain View that closed traffic in both directions on Tuesday morning.
Late Tuesday night, the highway fully reopened after the California Highway Patrol negotiators and mental crisis response team members from Santa Clara County "successfully brought the situation to a peaceful resolution," the Mountain View Police Department said on Twitter.
Northbound lanes remained blocked as of 7 p.m., according to 511, and two southbound lanes were closed.

As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, "a few lanes" had opened, according to the Mountain View Police Department, but the situation was ongoing.
Around 8:30 a.m., the Mountain View Police Department tweeted that officers were responding to the situation. Crisis negotiators arrived on scene a half hour later and the CHP took the lead around 10 a.m., "given the location of this incident."

Drivers were being diverted off Highway 101 at Old Middlefield Way, according to the Mountain View police.
