Irish Teen Win Google Global Science Award: Report

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — A teenager from Ireland has captured Google's international science award for his project deleting microplastics from water, which environmentalists claim is the biggest eco challenge to protecting sea life, according to thejournal.ie.
Fionn Ferreira, from Ballydehob in west Cork, was picked as the overall winner in the 2019 Google Science Fair, a prestigious annual global science competition open to students ages 13 to 18.
The 18-year-old was awarded a $50,000 prize during an awards ceremony at Google Mountain View headquarters this week.
