Major Accident Impacts Northbound Highway 85 in Cupertino

Commuters to Mountain View should consider alternate routes.

A Sig-alert has been issued for northbound state Highway 85 in Cupertino this afternoon because of a two-car crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At least one person was transported to a hospital with major injuries after the crash, which was reported at 3:12 p.m. just south of Stevens Creek Boulevard, according to CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

The alert was issued at 3:30 p.m.

Within the next hour some of the lanes started to reopen, and the
alert was canceled at 4:53 p.m.
