Mathilda Roadwork To Improve Sunnyvale Drives Starts Friday

The $42 million improvement project will launch with a ceremony slated for Friday morning at the Sheraton Hotel in Sunnyvale.

SUNNYVALE, CA -- Dubbed “Mathilda Monster” for clogging commutes through Sunnyvale, the $42 million Mathilda Avenue Improvements Project involving State Route 237 and U.S. Highway 101 is getting underway with a groundbreaking scheduled for Friday.

When completed, the major roadwork falling under the auspices of Measure B passed in 2016 will provide much needed traffic relief and improved mobility for all modes of travel through the area.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, California Department of Transportation and the city of Sunnyvale will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel Sunnyvale parking lot located at 1100 N. Mathilda Avenue.
