Mountain View July 4th Fireworks 2020 Canceled: See Nearby Events

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Independence Day events across the country will not look the same this year, thanks to the coronavirus. Most area cities and organizations decided to cancel their Fourth of July events, including in the South Bay, Silicon Valley and beach towns — along with the annual Shoreline Amphitheatre Fireworks and SF Symphony Concert in Mountain View.

There is a live display planned for Gilroy — but that does include viewing restrictions.

Throughout the region and in the SF Bay Area, however, a few communities are hosting aerial flyovers, virtual fireworks and parades, decorating contests and patriotic, fun activities to do from home.

• July 4th Parade, Dog Contest & Games. A day of online fun with virtual parade, kids' zone, games, entertainment and a patriotic costume contest for pups.

• July 4th Fireworks Show: Saturday, July 4, 2020 - Fireworks go off at dusk. Display will be from Gilroy High School, but no viewing allowed at the school.

• Morgan Hill July 4th Freedom Fest Parade, Fireworks. Organizers take event virtual with Patriot Sing, car cruise, parade, complete with bands and horses, and fireworks finale.

• Fourth of July Fireworks at Great America. As of this posting, the amusement park was uncertain of its reopening date. However, even if open by July 4th, fireworks shows will not occur this year, but will resume in 2021, a spokesperson said.

• Virtual Firecracker 10K, 5K & 1K Run. The 35th Annual Firecracker presented by the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club becomes virtual race this year.
