Opinion: After Beyond WonderLand Rave, Amphitheatre Better as Convention Hotel

Weekend concert in Mountain View outrages local residents.

Dear Mountain View City Council Members,

I understand that human activities create sounds and this is a normal part of living in densely populated areas.

The activities at Shoreline Amphitheater this weekend go beyond normal. This is the first time in over thirty years that I have felt the need to express my displeasure over an otherwise normal activity in our community.

My home is at Central Avenue and Jason Way and I have never been so disturbed by noise.

In case you are not familiar with Rave Events, let me enlighten: Raves are held in remote areas because of the disturbances they cause. Burning Man is one example that is held in the middle of the desert because the promoters cannot find venues that will tolerate the disruption.

My displeasure is echoed by every neighbor, every local acquaintance and every Mountain View Kiwanian that I have discussed this issue with.

We are all very shocked. I even thought, 'If this occurs again, It is time to move.'

Please help us.

We would like to hear your views on this very serious matter.

I know that the Council Members all try their best to make our city a great place to live. I am sure that you will treat this as your number one priority.

Perhaps the Shoreline Amphitheater site would be more suited and increase the tax base as a convention hotel and housing center than its present use.

Thanks,

Frank Zajac
