Private Mountain View High School Named Among Best in State

Several area private schools ranked among the top in the state, according to a leading education and real estate website.

BAY AREA, CA – It's no secret that the Bay Area is home to many of the state's top schools. Public area high schools are often named among the top in the nation, but what about the private schools?

Niche.com has come out with its 2017 rankings of the top 100 private high schools in America, as well as the top 100 private high schools in California. Twenty-three California schools made the list of the 100 best private high schools in the United States (see full list here).

Patch took a look at the local Peninsula and South Bay-area schools that were ranked among the top institutions on the national and state level, from San Francisco to San Jose.

In Mountain View, St. Francis High School was ranked 50th in California.

Twenty-six of the schools from the region landed among the top 100 in California, while eight of those were named among the best in America.

The rankings are "based on rigorous analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users," according to Niche.com. (Still skeptical? You can pick apart the site's full methodology here.)
