Shoreline Lake Reopens Kids' Water-Sports Camps In Mountain View
Boathouse operations will be on limited basis starting next week for children's summer fun - with social distancing and wide-open spaces.
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Shoreline Lake in Mountain View announced today that its boathouse operations will restart Monday, June 8, on a limited basis, beginning with water-sports summer camps for children, ages 5-16, in keeping with Santa Clara County's coronavirus health advisory.
And, heads up! Class sizes are limited and may fill quickly.
The reopening decision, according to a spokesperson for the popular, Silicon Valley lake and park, was based on "yesterday's Santa Clara County COVID-19 order, the easing of restrictions on supervised childcare formalized the reopening date — creating an opportunity to give housebound kids a chance for outdoors activity, parents a compliant and safe, childcare option, and Shoreline Lake the means to get people back to work."

The park's wide-open spaces, along with "strict protocols" for campers and staff will allow for proper social distancing, the Shoreline spokesperson said.
Registration is underway for Shoreline's camp programs including: Camp Shoreline; Paddle Adventure; Windsurfing & Sailing (Beginner & Advanced); and Sailing (Beginner, Basic, Advanced & Performance).

Per health-advisory orders, the number of campers per program group (and subgroup) is limited to 12, with each group assigned dedicated staff. And to comply with current Santa Clara County guidelines, children can attend only one summer camp program every three-week period, according to officials.
Staff hopes the reopening for summer camps will set the stage for phased openings of Shoreline Lake's watersports classes and equipment rentals, along with outdoor dining at the waterfront American Bistro.
